Located in the shadows of Dhauladar Hills, blessed by Baba Baijnath (Lord Shiva) and situated at the bank of Binva khud, Paprola village is proud of its Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Post Graduate Ayurvedic College.The college came into existence in the year 1972 by the name of Him Ayurvedic College as a private institution under the supervision of Vaid Hakim Parishad of Himachal Pradesh by the efforts of Vaid Jagan Nath Sharma. At that time it was affiliated with Punjab faculty Chandigarh.

  • It is informed that Rajiv Gandhi Govt. P.G. Ayurvedic College & Hospital Paprola has been registered on National Scholarship Portal. Desirous candidates can apply online and submit the hard copy along with supportive documents in the office of the Principal for verification by nodal officer.

Rajiv Gandhi Government Post Graduate Ayurvedic College Paprola is the only college of this type in the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated in Paprola town of Distt. Kangra on National Highway No. 20. The world famous Lord Shiva temple of Baijnath is at a distance of 2 Kms from the college. The college is now 42 years old and is under patronage of Govt. of Himachal Pradesh for last 37 years.

The College was founded by Vaid Hakim Parishad of Himachal Pradesh with affiliation from Punjab State Faculty of Ayurvedic and Unani System of Medicines way back in 1972 before it was taken over by Government of Himachal Pradesh in 1978. Presently the College is affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and is recognized by Central Council for Indian Medicine, New Delhi. Present admission capacity of College for BAMS classes is 50 per session and 39 students are admitted in 11 PG Specialties annually. A well equipped 200 Bed multispecialty Hospital is affiliated with the College for Teaching and Training of students as well as for providing research facilities.

The College has a well-qualified teaching faculty of 53 teachers for providing academic, clinical and research facilities. Further College hospital has 24 hour emergency services, labor room services. Facilities of RSBY, JSS, ICTC, DOT, etc are also provided to eligible patients. Kshar Sutra and Panchkarma are special ayurvedic services available in the hospital. College Hospital has affiliated “Regional Center of Excellence in Geriatric Health Care” which is funded by Department of AYUSH, Government of India. This Center beside providing free Geriatric Panchkarma facilities to old patients is engaged in educating the ayurvedic physicians and masses in general for need of geriatric care.

Rajiv Gandhi Govt Post Graduate Ayurvedic College is also a source of technical assistance for State Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences as well as Center of Excellence in Dravyaguna at Jogindernagar, Distt. Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.
By continuous encouragement of Department of AYUSH, Government of India and State of Himachal Pradesh this College has improved its infrastructure and services to be recognized as one among the leading ayurvedic institutions in our country. All those associated with this institution deserve to be acknowledged for same. We have a commitment to further improve the academics, research and clinical services in this institution so that we may fulfill the aspirations of our students and patients and expectations of our State.
